I am a beginner guitar player. I am not good enough to truly enjoy playing but I really enjoyed making this custom guitar from a kit. I bought the kit from https://www.solomusicgear.com/ . They basically send you all the parts that you then have to assemble and customize. I started with the body. I wanted a very unique paint job so I started with a metallic blue but then I found this color changing paint to put on top of the blue almost shifts to a purple haze color. I spray painted the edges to try to give it a sunburst look. It took a few tries before I got tho color right. Then a layer of clear coat and some sanding and it sparkled. Next I installed the electronics. It was pretty straight forward to follow the instructions that came with the kit but it needed to be soldered so it took some time and I wanted to make sure I had really clean connections so I could get the best sound out of the guitar. Finally I attached the neck and tuning keys and strings. I watched a bunch of you tube videos on adjusting the tension rod in the neck. I learned about using a straight edge to get the frets even. I also learned that you can sand the frets a little if you are getting some buzzing from the strings. Getting everything dialed in perfectly took a while but now it sounds great!
